How Much Is A Wedding Photographer?
I assume you are engaged if you’re reading this, if so… congratulations! Please, enjoy the planning stages, it’s a wonderful place to be! Can be stressful and overwhelming at times, so I am here to help and give you some information both as an engaged person planning their own wedding and as a professional supplier in the industry.
Spreadsheets at the ready, let’s go! So, when you are thinking of your budget and considering how much you should spend on your photographer, you should take into account the average in the UK is between £1,300-£1400. This is a great starting point! But, what will be the deciding factors on if you go above or below these figures?
BELOW the average.
Now we have seen the average costs, what could sway you to go below this figure? Because, realistically we all have a budget and that is absolutely normal - don’t stress. People seem to believe going “cheaper” always has negative relations but sometimes not…
Budget.
Special offers.
“lesser” experienced.
Change of industry (photographer previously in another field)
All of the above can be taken into consideration but your job as the shopper is to research and find out if you trust the person, like the person (enough to spend a full day with them - that’s important haha!) and you have seen plenty of their work. Because remember, it’s your wedding and it can be as special as you make it so visualise it to perfection!
ABOVE the average.
If you have an endless budget OR you are wishing to invest more in your memories than other factors of the day, I believe this will be the deciding factor for someone spending more in this department than others.
More experienced professional.
Higher calibre of work.
Vast amount of portfolio work.
Peace of mind.
These are some of the plus side of hiring someone who may come at an extra cost. But as said in the above paragraph, it is your job as the shopper to research. When hiring a professional wedding photographer with lots of experience in the industry, lots of experience with their equipment and processes - this will always come at a premium. But, with that premium comes your peace of mind.
CONCLUSION — — — —
Budget accordingly to what you envision, this is the best advice I can give as a person planning their own wedding. However, if you have to pick certain things to allocate more toward in your budget, I do believe investing in memories that not only you will look back on for a lifetime but your kids, grandkids and so on will look back on… I believe the extra investment is worth it.
